November 6 - Plot Diagrams
As we learned in class on November 5, every narrative contains 4 essential parts of a story:
These essential parts of a story can easily be organized into a plot diagram that looks similar to a mountain! Copy the traditional plot diagram below onto your Elements of a Story worksheet.
- Plot
- Conflict
- Climax
- Resolution

To practice filling in these plot diagrams, watch the video of The Rainbow Fish from storylineonline.net. As you watch, try to organize the events of the story into a traditional plot diagram at the bottom of your Elements of a Story worksheet. (If your iPad does not allow you to watch The Rainbow Fish, please diagram both The Story of Sliver Pete on the front of your worksheet AND The Master Artist on the back of your worksheet. Links are located at the bottom of the page.)
Complete one additional plot diagram on the back of your worksheet. We are practicing with children's stories because they will help you understand the concept on a smaller scale and then apply it to a larger novel of your choice. This time, you may choose one of the stories below. If you need help, please ask Miss Shaffer.
